Wishing-list from childhood

A box of 48 colored pencil in a box of iron was on my mind when I was a child. Cardboard box would ruin it all.
It is still expensive, I guess, but I think I'll have it one day and I hope they smell good.

The doorway therapy

I did read this study by Professor Gabriel Radvansky about the hypothesis that when we pass through a doorway we have memory lapses.

"Recalling the decision or activity that was made in a different room is difficult because it has been compartmentalized."

As a mental health advocate, thus seeing all kind of strange therapies and treatments, I tend to see these hypotheses and their experiments as funny and I cannot help thinking that a new therapy is born: the patient that suffers from a trauma will pass through X number of doorways and will be healed.
The number of doorways will be stipulated after some experiments but we can already give a chart:

- trauma caused by divorce: 10 doorways a day for a period of three months;

- trauma caused by lost job: 5 doorways a day for a period of one month because if one is traumatized by job problems in a era where there are no jobs it makes no sense;

- trauma caused by child abuse: depends on the age of the person but usually 50 doorways a day for two years;

- trauma caused by being in the battlefield: same as for child abuse.

Tippi Hendren hypnotizes me at this movie and when I found out that she is Melanie Griffith's mother it made sense. Melanie's voice is music and I like her performances.

Colors and textures

I saved it a long time ago because I loved the colors and the texture.

Outburst

I have been reading a lot about what is really happening to the world now and it is as if I was carrying the world on my shoulders. The number of crimes that is being committed by governments and the corporate wealth elite is something out of proportion. They are regulating everything and making blah... blah... blah... People simply refuse to listen for reasons that are not understandable by those who are deeply concerned and furiously informing themselves over the internet.

There are many people facing the same I am but they are being silenced by you-know-who and the incomprehensible lack of interest of great part of the population that refuses to read the writing on the wall.

It is so heinous and coward what is being done because of money. The greed has reached a scale that is alarming and even petty. They want every cent they can take from the population and they do not care if people will die, get sick or whatever.

The power these people, 1% of the world population, have is overwhelming and they are ruling what we eat, what we drink, what we think using all the propaganda they can and renaming things that are evil adding words like "positive" and so on.

I do not know what is going to happen but... we are all feeling very dis-empowered.

Lemmings, lies and Oscar

I found this at Flickr, by fuffer, and felt like sharing but I discovered that lemmings don't mass-suicide and it was a Walt Disney documentary that invented this myth. I didn't publish it at Hella Heaven and wrote about the documentary instead. Why invent it all? It makes no sense but in 1958 the film was awarded with an Oscar. 

Courbet - The Painter's Studio

Many artists have painted studios some of them with people. Courbet's studio has his friends at the right, including Baudelaire reading, and critics at the left. It is remarkable that although they are all united at a same place people seems isolated and only Courbet, the model and the boy are having any kind of connection.

I like this painting very much. Mary Cassat is impressionist but this painting has the influence of Japanese prints.

London Underground's map

Designed by Harry Beck the London Underground Map can be considered a work of art.
It has already been studied by some scholars and Rudolf Arnheim in his "Art and Visual Perception" claims that it's harmony pleases the eyes and it is perfectly designed to convey the informations it needs.

Withdrawing the realistic informations, such as geographic details or streets, it is the best possible image to show what needs to be found quickly.
He says lots of things. Just look. If you are a British citizen try to forget it's utility. Perhaps it will be easier if you look at it upside down.

Harry Beck worked many years to find this last version in 1960.
