Sunrise

It happens everyday and it is always magical.
I remember the first time and the last time I saw it.
Wanna see it one more time, one more time, one m...

Eternal battle

I didn't sleep well because at 11 a.m. I have an appointment.
Sometimes it seems that there's a force always making us get out of our center and the struggle to regain this position, to regain our axis is endless.
Some situations are so distant from what... I don't wanna say too much.
Just have to save energy to go and wait for the next fight.
Don't forget to smile.
Written listening to Ella Fitzgerald "So In Love", Norah Jones "Come away with me" and Rod Steward "Handbags and Gladrags"...

Update September, 7:
Wow! I never do this kind of post. I feel like deleting it but the image is beautiful. If you're curious everything went well and the problem is about to be solved. Why do we worry so much?

Dedicated to my psychoanalyst / Dedicado a minha psicanalista

There is a very special person in my life that made me find a comfortable space for this feeling of being out of place.

Há uma pessoa muito especial em minha vida que me fez achar um espaço para o sentimento de estar fora do traço.
Você sabe que é você.

Shooting Star

My friend Ed Lascar shared this picture at FB and I felt like sharing it too.
I only saw a shooting star once and as it was during the dawn I was so amazed that there were no time to think about making a wish.
I also do not believe that this phenomenon is of any help in what the earth is concerned.

Astrid Bartel

I'm finally joining Google+ and trying to learn everything again. I found Astrid Bartels digiArt and I loved it. She has numerous amazing works and surely I'll be publishing some of them.

The most incredible about internet is that we can find art being created by many people that are not at the market. I think that lately the art market lost it's way and money is intervening in the appreciation of art.

The last century's artists had to follow the known protocols if they wanted their work to be exposed but there were boundaries and it was the artists who were more on command and were respected by art dealers and by art collectors.

Things are a little bit upside down now and some works of art that are of dubious quality are on museums, galleries creating a kind of post-modernist Rococo with little room for subtle and... innovation.
Let's see what happens.

I just found this great article by Donald Kuspit.
"Art has never been independent of money, but now it has become a dependency of money."

Tango

Formed from African beats, Indian rhythms, Latin influences, and the popular music of the pampas in Argentina.
As they did with many other dances, Europeans adopted the Tango and made it their own.
It is the dance of joys and dramas of love.
Beautiful and inspiring.

Wishing-list from childhood

A box of 48 colored pencil in a box of iron was on my mind when I was a child. Cardboard box would ruin it all.
It is still expensive, I guess, but I think I'll have it one day and I hope they smell good.

The doorway therapy

I did read this study by Professor Gabriel Radvansky about the hypothesis that when we pass through a doorway we have memory lapses.
"Recalling the decision or activity that was made in a different room is difficult because it has been compartmentalized."

As a mental health advocate, thus seeing all kind of strange therapies and treatments, I tend to see these hypotheses and their experiments as funny and I cannot help thinking that a new therapy is born: the patient that suffers from a trauma will pass through X number of doorways and will be healed.
The number of doorways will be stipulated after some experiments but we can already give a chart:

- trauma caused by divorce: 10 doorways a day for a period of three months;

- trauma caused by lost job: 5 doorways a day for a period of one month because if one is traumatized by job problems in a era where there are no jobs it makes no sense;

- trauma caused by child abuse: depends on the age of the person but usually 50 doorways a day for two years;

- trauma caused by being in the battlefield: same as for child abuse.

My dog

My dog has cancer.

Nothing else to say now. Be back later.
My house without her? How will it be?
I think I'll leave for a while the day... you know... that day...
I will never let her suffer. Not even for one second.

Update: December, 22
It is very hot now. She stays at the kitchen sleeping the whole day. Hardly asks to be pet.
I'm scared.

Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre quotation

"I was not surprised, when I went down into the hall, to see that a brilliant June morning had succeeded to the tempest of the night, and to feel through the open glass door the breathing of a fresh and fragrant breeze. Nature must be gladsome when I was so happy. A beggar woman and her little boy, pale, ragged objects both, were coming up the walk, and I ran down and gave them all the money I happened to have in my purse—some three or four shillings: good or bad they must partake of my jubilee. The rooks cawed and blither birds sung, but nothing was so merry or so musical as my own rejoicing heart."

Audacious Shalott dreaming her life away

Watching the Wheels
John Lennon

People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing,
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin,
When I say that I'm o.k. they look at me kind of strange,
Surely you're not happy now you no longer in the game,

People say I'm lazy dreaming wasting my life away, (just dreaming)
Well they give me all kinds of warnings designed to enlighten me,
When I say I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall,
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love the traffic flow,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go,

People ask me questions looking for solutions,
Well I tell them there's no problem,
Only confusion,
I tell them it is also fine to watching shadows on the wall
Oh don't miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball
I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I just had to let it go.

Marnie by Tippi Hedren

Tippi Hendren hypnotizes me at this movie and when I found out that she is Melanie Griffith's mother it made sense. Melanie's voice is music and I like her performances.
I dedicate this post to FrankandMary that reminded me of Tippi Hendren at this post.

The Lady of Shalott by Elizabeth Siddal

The Lady of Shalott, 1853, by Elizabeth Siddal

"This is the 4th version of the Lady of Shalott, and the only one done by a woman. It's interesting to note what point in the story the artist chooses to depict. Here, Siddal shows her at the moment she looks out the window, echoing these lines by Tennyson:

"Out flew the web and floated wide;
The mirror crack'd from side to side;
'The curse is come upon me,' cried
The Lady of Shalott."

Still, some critics have noted that this is the one moment in the story and poem in which the lady is in control of her own destiny; others have remarked that while most Pre-Raphaelite paintings allow us to look at women, in this drawing it is the woman who is allowed to look at the world."

Colors and textures

I saved it a long time ago because I loved the colors and the texture.
